RAW FEEDING 101

Fewer Allergies and Less Itching Equals Less Medication.

Itchy skin, chronic ear infections, hot spots, red paws, loose stools, variable appetite, food sensitivities: These are the problems that send families to the vet over and over. And they're the problems that most often resolve, sometimes completely, when a dog switches from kibble to a clean raw diet.

Why Kibble-Fed Dogs Show Up with Allergies and Digestive Problems

Most "allergies" in dogs aren't really allergies in the clinical sense. They're inflammation. Inflammation driven by a diet the dog's body was never designed to process.

Kibble delivers a steady daily dose of grain, synthetic additives, rendered fats, and high-carb fillers. The gut reacts. The skin reacts. The ears react. Over time, the immune system shifts into a low-grade inflammatory state, and the dog spends years on prescription diets, allergy shots, antihistamines, or steroids trying to manage symptoms of a problem that was always upstream.

About 70 percent of your dog's immune system lives in the gut. When the gut is inflamed, the whole system is inflamed. When the gut is calm, most of the downstream symptoms calm with it.

What Raw Feeding Actually Does

Raw feeding addresses allergy and digestive symptoms through three mechanisms.

  1. It's an elimination diet
by default

When you switch to raw, you remove grain, corn, soy, most legumes, synthetic additives, and preservatives in one move. For dogs whose "allergies" were really reactions to food components, symptoms often start fading within the first month.

  2. It rebuilds the gut

Whole-food ingredients feed healthy gut flora instead of yeast and inflammatory bacteria. A functioning gut absorbs nutrients, regulates immunity, and stops overreacting to the outside world. Skin, coat, ears, and stool all follow.

  3. It lets you identify the
real trigger

Raw feeding makes single-protein diets simple, so you can test reactions to specific proteins cleanly. If your dog is actually sensitive to chicken you'll find out quickly and clearly. That's almost impossible to isolate with multi-ingredient kibble.

What to Expect, and When

Allergy and digestive improvements take longer than the visible benefits, but they tend to be the most meaningful changes.

  • WEEKS 1–4

    Initial detox and calm

Digestive symptoms usually shift first. Loose stool firms up, gas decreases. Some dogs temporarily flare (itching, soft stool) as the body clears out. This is normal.

  • MONTHS 2–4

    Skin and ear changes

Itching reduces. Hot spots heal and stay healed. Chronic ear infections clear up. Paw chewing decreases. Scratches happen less often and in shorter bursts

  • MONTHS 4–6

    Systemic reset

For many dogs, the symptoms that sent you searching in the first place are gone or much reduced. Medications can often be eliminated, but discuss with your vet. This is where raw feeding pays for itself.

“My dog was recently sick and throwing up and the vet just wanted more tests and couldn't figure out what was wrong. DeDe helped me change her food to a basic meat-based blend without vegetables, and that did it. Turns out my dog was not doing well with vegetables. I can't give enough stars to this company.”
