What Bones and Organs Do

Raw meaty bones and organs aren't a replacement for complete blends. They're something you can add alongside them.

  • Raw Meaty Bones

Chew time, dental cleaning, and mental enrichment. The act of chewing scrapes plaque off teeth naturally.

Examples: Duck feet, chicken wings, turkey necks, beef raw meaty bones

  • Stand Alone Organs

The most nutrient-dense part of any animal. Liver especially is rich in vitamins A and B12, iron, and copper.

    Examples: Beef & Pork Organ

  • Specialty Items

Green tripe, trachea, and other less common items that offer specific benefits for picky eaters or digestive support.

    Examples: Green tripe, beef trachea

Safety and Sizing

  • Size to your dog

Choose bones that match your dog's size. Small dogs do well with chicken wings, duck feet, and turkey necks. Medium dogs handle duck necks and chicken leg quarters. Large dogs eat beef ribs, marrow bones, and large knuckles.

  • Always supervise

First few times especially. Most dogs chew carefully, but some gulp. Supervising helps you learn your dog's style and catch any issues early.

  • Never cooked bones

Cooked bones splinter into sharp shards that can cause teeth issues. Pick up any dried out bones that your dog has previously chewed on and toss in trash.

Common Questions

How often should I feed raw bones?

One to three times a week is typically a good ratio. If your dog becomes constipated cut back on how many times a week you feed raw meaty bones.

How much extra organ should I feed?

Most of our raw meals already include 10-15% of organs. Many raw feeders like to add a little more. We believe giving more than 20% is too much. Too much organ can cause loose stools. Reach out to us regarding what your pet is currently getting and what you are wanting to accomplish with more organs.

Can puppies eat raw meaty bones?

Yes, and they benefit from it. Bones appropriate to their size and larger than their throat opening like chicken wings or turkey necks support jaw development and provide extra bone content during rapid growth. Do not cut into small pieces. Larger pieces keep puppies from swallowing raw meaty bones whole.
